  • Arrangements for field trips should be made well before the beginning of the parrot season, which begins in June.
    Field guides may be unavailable after June 1.
  • All field trips must be guided by Diana Venegas or Javier Cruz (email: dvenegas@buzon.online.com.mx), or a local resident to be determined by Diana or Javier.

Field trip restrictions

  • Group numbers will be limited and determined by field guides.
  • No tourist lodging infrastructure currently exists. New lodging units should be available soon.
  • Camping with no outdoor facilities will be necessary.
  • Visitors must show a real concern for contributing to the well-being of the residents of Ejido Tutuaca, including respect for cultural and ecological values, and for the privacy of the ejido's citizens.
  • Visitors will engage only in low-impact activities, such as hiking, birdwatching and other activities approved by the ejido.
  • Visitors will pack out all trash and properly dispose of all human waste.
  • Visitors are urged to contribute both time and money to sustainable development projects and scientific research benefiting the ejido and its ecosystem.
  • Visitors should be informed about municipal, state, and national laws that may affect their travels.

Field trip costs

  • A Contribution to Ejido Tutuaca of $20 U.S. per person will be required prior to entering the preserve.
  • Visitors will pay for other services that may be offered by residents of the ejido, such as cooking meals, guide services, lodging, horseback riding, etc.
