Notes from the Director

IT IS APROPOS that along with Spring, Wildlands Project’s new strategy for making our vision a reality will be emerging. While continuing to do our work on the ground, gathering our partners and collaborating on new ideas and programs, we are diving into an important update of our strategic plan. Thanks to a grant provided by the Campion Foundation we will be clarifying our niche, garnering outside opinion, and identifying additional expertise needed to get the work done. We have to move faster, more efficiently and with greater resources to insure that the initiatives along the Spine of the Continent, the Atlantic and the Pacific become actual conservation gains upon this Earth.

Having met with donors, partners, foundations and collaborators across the country over the last several months, I have never been more excited about the work Wildlands Project has been entrusted to do. It is clear that the urgency is greater than ever that the Wildlands Project vision for seamless wildways on the North American Continent becomes a reality.

I will keep my words to a minimum as there is much to be said by our contributing writers and experts. Look for good news and perspectives on some of North America’s pressing conservation issues: global warming, border security, and road ecology. These times are full of challenges and tremendous potential for the conservation movement. We intend to help lead the way, the Wildlands Way.
